The Vanquish is a testament to Aston Martin’s engineering
and styling know-how, adopting many of things the company has learned over the
years. Thanks to the use of carbon fiber in each body panel, torsional rigidity
has been improved by more than 25%
The Vanquish rides on an updated version of the previous
model's bonded aluminum and carbon fiber VH platform boasting improved
torsional rigidity.
Power is provided by a 6.0 liter V12 engine that makes
565-hp at 6,750 rpm and 457 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm. Using a 6-speed
Touchtronic 2 automatic/sequential manual gearbox, a run from 0 to 62 mph (100
km/h) is completed in 4.1 seconds, while top speed is capped at 183 mph (295
km/h).
As with all Aston Martins, the Vanquish isn’t for the
Average Joe, at least in regards to affordability. It will have a starting
price of £189,995 when it goes on sale in Europe (first launching in the UK) in
late 2012. North American sales are expected to begin in early 2013 with prices
starting around $280,000.
Other notable features are said to include the ventilated
carbon ceramic disc brakes and a brand-new Launch Control system.
